Often described as wicker baskets or straw baskets, our functional palm leaf half moon storage baskets are handwoven in rural villages in the north of Morocco and the region around Marrakech. The plant fibres are first pleated into long strips which are then stitched in rounds to form the shape of the basket. In the hands of our weavers this process looks easy but we can assure you it is a skill that takes many hours of dedicated practice to master!
